World Car of the Year finalists named
German models dominate the shortlist for the title of World Car of the Year.
Germany has more vehicles in the World Car of the Year and related World Performance Car finals than all other major and minor vehicle-producing nations put together.
The Audi A6, Audi Q3, BMW 1-series, BMW 3-series, Porsche 911 and Volkswagen Up are shortlisted for World Car of the Year, along with the Chevrolet Volt/Vauxhall Ampera, Citroën DS5, Ford Focus and Range Rover Evoque.
The Germans also dominate the sister World Performance Car finals with the Audi RS3 Sportback, BMW 1-series M Coupé, BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG, Mercedes-Benz C-63 Coupé AMG Black Series and Porsche 911 cited. The remaining contenders are the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, Ferrari FF, Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 and McLaren MP4-12C.
As in previous years, the top three in the Word Car and World Performance Car classes will be announced at the Geneva motor show in March, prior to the outright winners being revealed at the New York Auto Show in April.
A jury of 66 journalists from dozens of countries must register their votes via KMPG, the international accounting firm before the end of this month.
